About us
Founded in January 2000 by Bishop John Okinda and his dear wife Pamela Okinda, Migori Worship Centre is a Non-Profit Organization bringing together various ministries, operating under one umbrella. Migori Worship Centre also works with other like minded organizations through out the world.
Before the inception of Migori Worship Centre, Bishop Okinda was the Senior Pastor of Dandora All Nations Church, in Nairobi Kenya. Alongside heading Dandora All Nations Church, Bishop was also a part-time Bible Teacher at Nairobi Pentecostal and Manna Bible Colleges. As it were, he had to hand over to another Minister the 1,500 member church which he had led for 12 years to start a long journey to Migori. He and his family settled in Ragana Village where there are no good roads, hospitals, schools, water and elecricity like it was the case in Nairobi. Migori Worship Centre has since then experienced a tremendous growth in the last 8 years. This has been made posible with a dynmic team of 5 trained ministers working alongside Bishop John Okinda.
We are running powerful departments like:-
- Children Church with around two hundred members
- Teens and Youths a bout hundred and fifty both College students and drop outs
- Couples
- Widows
- Women and Men Fellowship
The Ministry Includes:-
Church Planting
Done through mass crusades, which target between 1000 to as big multitudes as 7000 people. People respond to the Gospel and Home cells are established which later on grow into strong churches.
Leadership Training
As a church we believe in training and mentoring as a means through which we prepare and equip labourers who are used by God to propel the church to the finishing edge.
Orphans
There are children with great needs in Kenya due to high death rates as a result of Malaria, HIV, untreated water and luck of medical services.
Our projection to orphans is both long term and short term. Currently we have built a children home which caters for one hundred and fifty orphans and other most needy children in our community, with many begging to be accommodated daily.
We provide them with three meals a day, medication, Education, and clothing. This also gives us an opportunity to teach them the word of God and we have been blessed to see majority of them accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
Water
Such a great need in Kenya. Most diseases which reduce the life span of Kenyans come as a result of dirty water .As a church we partner with like minded friends to drill wells for the community. We have managed to drill one well and we are looking forward to drill another one to meet an urgent need of the community which desperately need water. We pray for God's provision.
Prison Ministry
God has given us favour to extend the arm of our ministry to the Migori prison which has 600 inmates. This is a challenging field. We have singled out the following needs:-
- Extending Bible College to the prison.
- A church building for 600 inmates in the prison compound.
- Potable sound system.
- Bibles in local languages for inmates.
Modern Youth Centre
Because of the high crime rate brought about by drug abuse, poor parentage and unemployment, many youths have adopted hostile and street living styles. To counter attack this, we have a vision of developing a Catchment Centre which will bring youths together to share a cup of coffee. This will give us a forum to present Jesus to them.
For this to happen we need the following:-
- Projector for Christian movies
- Indoor games facility
- Music system for talent exposure
- Missionaries who deal with guidance and counselling
Food Relief Centre
Acute shortage of food often hits Migori unpredictable from time to due to lack of proper farming equipments, poor agricultural skills, bad weather and lack of finance. Hence the existence of our Food Relief Centre which seeks to:-
- Store food to meet immediate need for it in future
- Establish an Agricultural Training Centre - doors are open to partners who'd want to come and train our people on agricultural skills
- Commission digging of Wells and dams for irrigation
- Venture into buying and leasing of Agricultural machines e.g. tractors, insect controlling machines, grain preservatives etc.
- Invest in quality seeds and fertilizers
